A West Virginia County Sheriff Term Limit Amendment will appear on the 2012 statewide ballot in West Virginia as a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment. The measure proposes ending end term limits for county sheriffs. Currently, sheriffs are limited two consecutive terms.^[1]

A two-thirds vote in both chambers of the West Virginia State Legislature is required to refer an amendment to the ballot.

The bill was introduced to the West Virginia State Legislature on February 2. On February 25 the Senate voted in approval of the proposed measure. The proposal was approved by House on March 10, 2011.^[2]
