Allen has worked as a real estate agent for Integrity Realty from 2005 to the present.
Allen ran for the Arizona State House of Representatives in 2004 but was defeated. She served as chair for the Navajo Country Republican Party from 2000 to 2005. She was then appointed to the Arizona State Senate in June of 2008. She has represented the 5th district since her appointment.

Allen won re-election to the 5th District seat in 2010. She defeated Bill Konopnicki in the primary election. She then defeated Elaine Bohlmeyer in the November 2 general election.[1][2]
