State Legacy Fund succeeds while Hunting Ban falls in North Dakota

BISMARK, North Dakota: North Dakota voters were loud and clear on November 2 when it came to the state's two ballot measures. Measure 1 was approved by 63.5%, while Measure 2 was garnered only 43.5% of supporting votes. Measure 1 called for the creation of a state legacy fund, for the deposit of certain oil and gas tax revenues in the fund. On the other hand, Measure 2 proposed banning fenced hunting such as game preserves where people pay to shoot big-game animals. The same ballot initiative was proposed in 2008, North Dakota Captive Hunting Petition, but supporters failed to collect sufficient valid signatures to place the initiative on the ballot.[1]
