Biography
Brown was born in 1959 in Kittery, ME, and attended public high school in Wakefield, MA. He earned his B.A. from Tufts University in 1981 and his J.D. from Boston College Law School in 1985. Brown has also worked as an attorney.[3]

Brown is running for re-election in 2012.[6] Marisa DeFranco, Jim King, and Elizabeth Warren are seeking the Democratic nomination. Primary elections will be held on September 18, 2012.
The University of Virginia's Center for Politics published an article called Sabato's Crystal Ball on March 22, 2012 detailing the 8 races in the Senate in 2012 that will decide the political fate of which party will end up with control in 2013.[7] The seat rated a a toss-up that the Sabato's Crystal Ball believes is second most likely to end up Republican, second only to Montana, is the Senate seat in Massachusetts.[7] The article notes that Brown has had recent campaigning success in Massachusetts, and despite mixed polls, Brown’s "blue-collar appeal"[7] might be enough against his opponent, Democrat Elizabeth Warren.[7]
2010
On January 19, 2010, Brown won election to the United States Senate. He defeated Martha Coakley (D) and Joseph L. Kennedy (L) in the special election.[8]
2008
In 2008, Brown won re-election to the Massachusetts State Senate. He defeated Sara Orozco (D) in the general election.[9]
