Contents

An effort to recall Richard Samuelson from his position as a Goodhue County commissioner was launched in November 2011. [1] Samuelson, who represents District 2, has held his seat since 1994.

Reasons for recall

Steve Groth, who ran against Samuelson in 2010, is organizing the recall effort. Recall organizers are upset that Samuelson did not pursue an appeal of the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission’s approval of a 78-megawatt wind project in Samuelson's district. Recall advocates say Samuelson is not doing his job to protect his district. [1]

Path to the ballot

Recall organizers need 986 signatures, which represents 25% of District 2 voters who voted in the 2010 election. Gathering this many signatures would push the recall question to court, in accordance with the Laws governing recall in Minnesota.
