Aboud earned her BA in English from the University of Arizona in 1972. She has also received Life Coach Training from the Coaches Training Institute as well as her Certificate of Teaching from the Arizona Department of Education. She was trained in mediation by the American Arbitration Association.
After earning her degree, Aboud became an English teacher, as well as the tennis coach and volleyball coach at Rincon High School. She then worked in the Director of the Racquets Program at Colby College as a coach and instructor from 1984 to 1992. Aboud later became a property manager for the Masadi Investment Group from 1995 to 2001.
Aboud served as president for the Democrats of Greater Tuscon from 2001 to 2004. She also served as First Vice Chair on Legislative District 28 for the Pima County Democrats from 2002 to 2004.

Aboud won re-election to the 28th District seat in 2010. She had no primary opposition. She defeated Republican Greg Krino, and Independents Dave Ewoldt and Ted Downing in the November 2 general election.[1]
