Ohio slots referendum signatures questioned

COLUMBUS, Ohio: Ohio slots referendum opponents are calling into question several of the signatures submitted to place the measure on the November 2, 2010 statewide ballot. Racetrack owners argue that their research revealed that at least 12 of the petition circulators are felons and the collected signatures should no longer be considered valid. However, LetOhioVote.org said,"We're confident our circulators have followed all necessary laws." The research conducted, said LetOhioVote.org, used data (Social Security numbers, middle names and birthdays) that possibly could have identified the wrong individuals. In December 2009 supporters submitted 325,496 signatures, 84,000 more than required. If submitted signatures are disqualified, referendum supporters will have 10 days to submit additional signatures.
