The New York Public Service Commission is a five-member board in the New York state government that regulates electric, gas, steam, telecommunications, and water utilities, as well as overseeing the cable industry.

Current officeholder

The current chairman is Garry Brown. He was appointed to the public service commission on December 13, 2007 and named chairman on January 2, 2008.

Commissioners include Patricia Acampora, Robert Curry, Jr., Maureen Harris and James Larocca.

Appointments

Commissioners are appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate for a term of six years or to complete an unexpired term.[1]

Compensation

In 2009, New York Public Service Commissioners were paid an estimated $127,000 according to the Council of State Governments.[2]
