CARSON CITY, Nevada: Days following the November 2 elections initiative signatures are being filed for future ballots in various states, including Nevada. On Monday, November 8, supporters of a sports arena initiative filed more than 200,000 signatures to refer the measure to the legislature. The legislature has 40 days to approve or reject the proposal. If the measure is rejected, it will be automatically referred to the 2012 ballot.[1]

The proposed initiative would allow a 20,000-seat sports arena on the Las Vegas Strip. Specifically the initiatives would impose a 0.9 cent sales tax in a taxing district near the proposed arena. The revenue would finance bonds to construct the arena.[2]
