The measure would extend legislative term limits from eight years per legislative chamber to 12 years in each chamber for a maximum of 24 years.[1]
The proposal - House Joint Resolution 41 - was filed in the Missouri General Assembly on December 22, 2011 by Rep. Jamilah Nasheed.
Path to the ballot
In order to qualify for the ballot, the measure required approval by a majority of the members of each chamber of the Missouri General Assembly.
