The Minnesota Supermajority for Tax Increases Amendment may appear on the November 2012 ballot in Minnesota as a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment. The measure proposes requiring a three-fifths majority in both chambers to approve any state tax increase.

The measure was introduced by State Rep. Steve Drazkowski[1]

Text of measure

The ballot language of the measure would read as follows:[2]

"Shall the Minnesota Constitution be amended to require a three-fifths vote of each house of the legislature to pass a law that increases state income, state sales, or property taxes?

  • YES
  • NO

Constitutional changes

The proposed amendment would add a section to Article IV of the Minnesota Constitution[3]
