Louisiana Secretary of Natural Resources is a state executive position in the Louisiana state government. Appointed by the governor, the department was created in 1976 and also includes the Office of Coastal Management, the Office of Conservation, and the Office of Mineral Resources.

The Secretary heads the Department of Natural Resources, whose mission is "to preserve and enhance the nonrenewable natural resources of the state, consisting of land, water, oil, gas, and other minerals, through conservation, regulation, management and development to ensure that the state of Louisiana realizes appropriate economic benefit from its asset base."[1]
Current officeholder
The current officeholder is Scott Angelle. He was appointed by Gov. Kathleen Blanco in 2004.

The mission of the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is to preserve and enhance the nonrenewable natural resources of the state, consisting of land, water, oil, gas, and other minerals, through conservation, regulation, management and development to ensure that the state of Louisiana realizes appropriate economic benefit from its asset base. Also, DNR exercises complex regulatory and permitting functions through the Office of Coastal Management and the Office of Conservation.
Divisions
There are three primary divisions in the Department of Natural Resources - the Office of Coastal Management, the Office of Conservation, and the Office of Mineral Resources. There is also an Office of Management and Finance.
Office of Mineral Resources
- The Office of Mineral Resources manages the state's mineral assets and advises the State Mineral and Energy Board. It is headed by the Assistant Secretary, who also serves as the Secretary of the State Mineral and Energy Board.
