Louisiana Amendment 3 would exempt food, natural gas, electricity and water from sales & use taxes. It was on the November 7, 2000 election ballot in Louisiana where it passed, with 52% of voters in favor.

Legislative Constitutional Amendment

To provide that food for home consumption, natural gas, electricity, and water shall be exempt from any sales and use tax levied by the state or by a statewide political subdivision. (Act 49/HB 98, 2000 Regular Session)
