The Kentucky Term Limit Amendment may appear on the November 2012 ballot in the state of Kentucky as a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment. The measure would set term limits for state legislators. More specifically the measure would limit members of the Kentucky Senate and House to three consecutive terms. The bill would also extend the length of each term. The proposal was introduced by State Representative Mike Nemes.[1]

Path to the ballot

If 60% of the membership of each chamber of the Kentucky General Assembly approves, a proposed amendment goes on the ballot at the next general election during which members of the state legislature are up for election. The Assembly adjourned for 2011 session without the measure be sent to the ballot, but it still could obtain ballot access during 2012 state legislative session.
