On July 14, 2011, The Oakland County Election Commission approved recall language targeting Pappageorge for his support of House Bill 4361, which eliminated some tax credits while replacing the Michigan Business Tax. Organizers had to collect 27,001 signatures in a 90 day period in order to schedule a recall election.[1]
The efforts failed to collect enough signatures to place the recall on the November 2011 ballot.
