A vote about whether to recall Jim Luonuansuu from his elected position as a member of the city council of Newton Falls, Ohio took place in a special recall election on February 8, 2011.[1][2] Luonuansuu retained his seat in the special recall vote.

The recall effort against Luonuansuu, who represents the 4th Ward in Newton Falls, was launched by Phil Beer, the same person who successfully led a recall effort that ended with the recall of then-mayor Pat Layshock. Beer said that he is pushing for the recall because Luonuansuu is working against City Manager Jack Haney and Police Chief John Kuivila.[1]

Luonuansuu was first elected to the Newton Falls council in November 2009.[1]

Election results

  • Votes to recall Luonuansuu: 66
  • Votes to retain Luonuansuu: 123[3]
