An effort to recall Jill Dabbs from her position as mayor of Bryant, Arkansas, was launched in January 2012. [1]
Reasons for recall
Bryant Alderman Adrian Henley is organizing the recall effort. He says that Dabbs supported an alcohol tax to fund a police fleet. Dabbs says this accusation is false. Dabbs is also accused of initiating a 12% water and sewer rate hike. Dabbs says this is false, and that there has actually been a 9% rate increase, which was set by the previous mayor. Records show that 61 workers have left city hall during Dabbs' first year in office. In 2011, Dabbs went before the Arkansas Ethics Commission for allegedly giving herself a pay raise. She was given a letter of caution for what was called an "unintentional violation." [1]
Path to the ballot
Recall organizers must collect 2,400 valid signatures of registered voters. If enough signatures are collected, a recall election would take place in November 2012. [2]
