Jane Murray was recalled from her position as the mayor of Portsmouth, Ohio, in a special recall election that took place on December 7, 2010.[1]
  • Votes to recall Murray: 1,978 Approveda
  • Votes to keep Murray: 1,145

Former Portsmouth Police Chief Tom Bihl was a leader in the recall effort. He said, "The basic reason I did it, was because the things she did right off the bat, in firing the department heads. She has not done anything good for the city yet."

Path to the ballot

1,148 signatures were required to trigger the recall. Recall organizers submitted 1,410.[2]
