Gilbert Cedillo is a Democratic member of the California State Assembly. He formerly represented California's 22nd Senate District.

Cedillo was first elected to the state senate in 2002. He was re-elected in 2006. Earlier, he served in the California State Assembly from 1998-2002.

Cedillo earned a B.A. in Sociology from UCLA in 1977 and a law degree in 1983 from the People's College of Law. He worked as the general manager of SEIU's Local 660 from 1991-1996. He was a law clerk for the American Civil Liberties Union and a director of the Campaign for Dignity and Civic Participation.
