Early results show approval of Arizona sales tax hike

PHOENIX, Arizona: The highly talked about Arizona sales tax increase is showing signs of being approved. Early results from the Arizona Secretary of State's office is showing strong support for the measure, which most likely will be passed. According to unofficial results, the measure has gained 63.8% of yes votes, with about 70% of polls reporting. The results have not shown much change throughout the night, with votes in favor of the amendment stayed in the 62-65% range. The measure will raise the state's sales tax from 5.6 cents to 6.6 cents on every dollar of taxable items purchased. The sales tax increase would be a three-year temporary increase.
