Douglas County School Board recall, Colorado (2011)

Jump to: navigation, search

An effort to recall members of the Douglas Count School Board from their positions was launched in March 2011, but did not go to a vote. The recall was a response to a passage of what is the state's first district-run voucher pilot, using state per-pupil funding to help up to 500 students attend private schools. The board voted unanimously 7 to 0 to approve the new vouchers. Reports did not specify which members or how many members are targeted for recall.[1]

A judge's order has halted the voucher program for the time being. On November 1, 2011, regularly scheduled school board elections will take place in Douglas County, with seven candidates running for three seats on the school board. [2]
