Dorcas Brekel and Eric Windom recall, RE-1 School Board, Colorado (2011)

An effort to recall Dorcas Brekel and Eric Windom from their positions as school board district directors for RE-1 in Logan County, Colorado was launched in July 2011. The recall effort was abandoned in August 2011 after failing to gather enough signatures. [1]Brekel is the director of District 6, while Windom serves as director of District 5 as well as president of the board. The reasons for the recall, according to organizers, are accusations of not allowing the public to interact with the board during meetings and the use of executive sessions in an inappropriate way, among other accusations. The recall petitions were filed in order to gain circulation approval on July 1, 2011. The petition format was approved by the county Clerk and Recorder, according to reports.[2]
