A vote about whether to
recall Donald Hampton, Amy Kordosky, Glenn Fortune and Rayetta Clark from their elected positions as members of the Oakridge,
Oregon city council in
Lane County took place on Tuesday, September 20, 2011.

Donald Hampton is the mayor of Oakridge. Kordosky, Fortune and Clark are members of the city council.[4]

Motivation of recall supporters
Robert Baker supported the recall. He said, "They're not responding to us at all. We try to get them to reduce the budget, several of the things we've been trying to get them to do and they just won't do it."[4]
Another reason mentioned for the recall is that the targeted city council members did not fire City Administrator Gordon Zimmerman for "failing to conduct city audits since 2008."
The city discovered in June 2011 that there was a $420,000 hole in its budget, leading to outrage and national attention. The city is one of the poorest in Oregon.[5]
Path to the ballot
For each recall target, 173 signatures had to be collected on a petition in order to force a special recall election. This figure is calculated by taking 15% of the number of those in the municipality who cast a vote for Governor of Oregon in the most recent gubernatorial election.[1]
These signatures had to be collected within 90 days of the time the wording on the recall petitions was filed with Lane County election officials.
