An effort to recall Denise Rangel from her position as member of the Victoria (Texas) City Council was announced in January 2010.[1]

Rangel voted to amend the Victoria's budget to buy 76 acres for a new sewer plant in south Victoria. 3 other city council members also voted to amend that budget to buy that acreage, which is along Southwest Ben Jordan Street between Laurent Street and Hand Road.

Henry Perez is a leader in the recall effort. He objects to Rangel's vote on the sewer plant land acquisition issue, saying, "Her promise during her campaign for office was to protect our needs. We feel that she has not represented us in any way."[1]

Rangel was elected from District 1 in Victoria.
