California Proposition 50 was on the June 3, 1986 statewide primary ballot in California as a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment, where it was approved.
  • Yes: 2,910,665 (70.5%) Approveda
  • No: 1,220,565 (29.5%)

Proposition 50 amended the California Constitution so that persons who suffer a property loss due to a disaster, as declared by the Governor of California, can maintain their original tax base if they remain and rebuild on the same site or if they relocate to a site to purchase.
