This measure did not or will not appear on a ballot

A California Honor in Office Initiative was intended for but will not be on the 2010 state ballot as an initiated constitutional amendment.

Jerrol LeBaron was the measure's official proponent.

The proposed initiative had these provisions:

• California's state legislators would be prohibited from voting in support of legislation unless they certified under penalty of perjury that they have read and understood the legislation and executed a statement regarding their duties to the People.
• Legislators would be prohibited from voting on legislation unless they certified under penalty of perjury that they had not received a bribe or engaged in illegal vote swapping.

Fiscal impact

The California Legislative Analyst's Office estimated the fiscal impact on state and local government as:

"Probably no net increase in state costs."
