Ballot title: Provides That Property Owners May Not Be Required to Obtain or Maintain Flood Insurance. Initiative Statute.
Official summary: Provides that no law shall require that the owner of any property within the State of California obtain or maintain flood insurance as to that property. Prohibits any lender from requiring flood insurance as a condition of making a loan on real property in the State of California.

433,971 signatures are required to qualify this measure for the ballot. To qualify for the November 2, 2010 ballot, the signatures would have to be collected and submitted by early May 2010. If the signatures are, instead, collected by the initiative's 150-day deadline of September 2, 2010, the measure would go on the ballot in a future year.
