TOPEKA, Kansas: Both amendments on the general election ballot in Kansas passed when voters flocked to the polls on November 2. The two measures were passed convincingly by voters.

Amendment 1 will change the state constitution to allow the right to bear arms in the state of Kansas for lawful purposes. The measure passed with 89 percent of voters voting 'yes' on the measure.

Amendment 2 eliminates mental illness as a voting disqualification. According to supporters of the amendment, a "mental illness" category is too general and affects as much as 25 percent of Kansas residents. 62 percent of voters voted 'yes' on the measure.

Both measures were legislatively-referred constitutional amendments.
