Reasons for recall
Floydean White, a current Alderman for the Town of Cullen, said residents were concerned with the mayor's residency. While he claims legal residency in Cullen, Washington lives in Shreveport. "I could not expect a person living in the middle of Shreveport to be as concerned or committed to what goes on in Cullen and how he can improve the living here and make things better for the citizens, so I really think it plays a vital part to be living in the community that you're serving in," says White. [1]
Path to the ballot
Recall supporters would have needed to collect the signatures of 227 registered voters in 90 days from the time they submitted their recall registration paperwork in order to force a special recall election.[1]
